The anniversary of Tchaikovsky's birth will be celebrated worldwide, and the Moscow Easter Festival XIV will do so with gusto! For this exceptional event, held at the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall in Moscow on 7 May (Tchaikovsky's birthday), the Mariinsky Theatre Orchestra, joined by world-renowned pianist Denis Matsuev willperform the three piano concertos by Tchaikovsky. Valery Gergiev conducts, an eminent music director of the orchestra. Concerto for piano and orchestra No. 2 in G Major, Op. 44

Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No. 2 is less famous than its predecessor, although it is a technical and musical masterpiece. The work was dedicated to Nikolai Rubinstein, who died in 1881 before he could perform the score. The Piano Concerto No. 2 was thus premiered in New York in November 1881…
