Symphony No. 1 in G minor was the first notable piece written by Tchaikovsky. In four movements, the piece took a number of years to write. It was composed from 1866 and modified in 1874. Tchaikovsky had dedicated the piece to Nikolai Rubinstein, the brother of one of his former mentors…
