Hovhannes Ayvazyan

Biography

Graduate of the Yerevan State Komitas Conservatory (2011). He was winner of the International Gasparyan Opera Competition for opera singers in Yerevan (2008), and he was awarded the Armenian Presidential Prize (2009). In 2012 he was a finalist in the Placido Domingo Operalia World Opera Competition that took place in Beijing. He is a lead soloist for the Yerevan State Opera and Ballet Theatre, for Moscow’s Novaya Opera, and for the Dzhalil Tatar State Theatre of Opera and Ballet. In 2010 he appeared with Canada’s Opera Belcanto of South Simcoe in Toronto. In 2013 he sang Manrico in Il Trovatore for Novaya Opera and also performed with Anna Netrebko on the new stage of the Mariinsky Theatre in its Verdi Gala. That same year he debuted at the Mariinsky Theatre in the role of Cavaradossi (Tosca) and Manrico (Il Trovatore) as well as singing Cavaradossi at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow.
