Biography


 

Artistic and General Director — Alexey Utkin.

 

The Moscow Chamber Orchestra was formed in 1957 by Rudolf Barshai. The orchestra championed music of contemporary composers: Dmitri Shostakovich, Georgy Sviridov, Kara Karayev, Mieczysław Weinberg, Alexander Lokshin, Herman Galynin, and Boris Tchaikovsky among others.

After Barshai emigrated abroad in 1976, the orchestra was led by Igor Bezrodny, Evgeny Nepalo, Viktor Tretiakov, Andrei Korsakov, and Konstantin Orbelyan.

In 2010 oboist and conductor Alexey Utkin became head of the orchestra.
